Jérémie Jean-Baptiste

Consulting chef for Martinique Gourmande Festival

Jérémie Jean-Baptiste, our consulting chef, will supervise, for the 4th year, the preparation of 5,000 portions of a Martinican recipe that will be distributed to Quebec families in need thanks to the Solidarity Kitchens of La Tablée des Chefs.

Born to Martinican parents, Jérémie Jean-Baptiste grew up in France, where his family’s Caribbean restaurant was his stomping ground from the age of five. Cooking became Jérémie’s first love, and at 21, he decided to make it his career. In Lyon, he sought out his culinary idol Paul Bocuse and learned the fundamentals of French cuisine at the busy downtown brasserie Le Nord.

Looking to deepen his knowledge, Jérémie then pursued an education in various aspects of the restaurant industry and found his niche in culinary training, research, development, and demonstration. His strong desire to see the world eventually led him to Quebec City, where he settled with his family and began teaching cooking classes in a culinary workshop. He has also shared his skills at conferences and in schools, introducing kids to the art of cooking. Today, he leads in-home baking classes and cooking demonstrations. “I go to the student’s home to offer a fun and unique experience.”

In recent years, he has become a host in festivals such as “Montréal en lumière” or programs such as “Les difficile” on Mordu. Jérémie is now chef and digital media host on “Mordu”  Radio-Canada.
